Future by Design
Editor's Take
A profile of the self-taught designer and futurist Jacque Fresco, the film lays out his vision of cities and social systems organized around science and shared resources rather than money. It presents his ideas alongside his critics and the scale of his ambition, without fully stepping back from his vantage. The portrait is admiring, so its account of his proposals reads as an introduction rather than an assessment. What it captures well is the coherence and reach of a single unconventional imagination.
Future by Design profiles Jacque Fresco, the self-taught designer and futurist who spent his life imagining a radically different kind of society. The film lays out his vision of cities, machines, and social systems built around science and shared resources rather than money and scarcity. It follows his ideas, his critics, and the sheer scope of a man often compared to earlier visionary inventors. It is a fascinating look at one thinker's blueprint for reengineering how humans live.
