Trois frères se disputent le territoire viking de la Russie Kiévienne. Leur père mort, ils se livrent à une guerre de vengeance sans merci. Le jeune prince Vladimir, forcé à l’exil, se retrouve confronté à son frère Yaropolk, déjà responsable de l’assassinat de son autre frère Oleg. Vladimir décide alors d’affronter le meurtrier de son frère afin de récupérer le commandement de la ville de Kiev : animé par une volonté d’y apporter enfin la paix, il mènera son peuple au "Baptême de Russie".
