3d Scans Reveal How This 'Impossible' Castle Was Really Built
This documentary uses modern 3D scanning to explain how the Chateau de Chambord, the jewel of the French Renaissance, was actually built. With more than four hundred rooms and dozens of staircases, the castle was a colossal project commissioned by King Francis I in the sixteenth century. Digital surveys reveal the engineering tricks, the famous double-helix staircase and the ambition behind a building once thought almost impossible to construct. It blends history and technology to show how a royal fantasy became stone. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
