The European Missionaries Who Fought for Power in the Forbidden City

This documentary follows the European missionaries who sought influence within China's Forbidden City, beginning with the Jesuit Matteo Ricci. Arriving at the end of the sixteenth century, he used his knowledge of geometry and astronomy to win a place at the imperial court. The film explores the delicate dance of faith, science and power that followed. Fascinating and richly told, it reveals a remarkable meeting of civilisations. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
