Paul Cezanne: The father of modern art | National Gallery

Paul Cezanne’s ‘Bathers’ has hung in the Gallery since the mid 1960s and conveys how Cezanne would slowly and methodically 'construct' a picture rather than simply drawing one. Rosalind McKever, our Harry M Weinrebe Curatorial Fellow walks you through the history of Cezanne’s practice and how he has continued to inspired artists throughout history. The National Gallery houses the national collection of paintings in the Western European tradition from the 13th to the 19th centuries.
