SARS: China's Cover-up of a Deadly Pandemic

Dr.Docs' Take

This is China's cover-up of the 2003 SARS outbreak, and the less-told part, the forgotten survivors left with devastating side effects from the treatment they were given. I keep this filed under conspiracies of silence, where the disease is only half the story. A state that manages information before it manages a virus tells you what it values. Grim, specific, and uncomfortably relevant to everything that came after it.

This documentary investigates China's handling and cover-up of the SARS outbreak, and the lasting toll on those who survived it. Beyond the well-documented secrecy, it reveals the forgotten patients left with severe after-effects from their treatment. Through their stories it exposes how a public health crisis was mismanaged and its victims neglected. Sobering and revealing, it examines the human cost hidden behind an epidemic and its concealment.
