Atomic Cover-Up: The Hidden Story Behind Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Dr.Docs' Take

Atomic Cover-Up is about the footage the US military shot in the ruins of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and then classified for decades, film of the human cost that the public was not meant to see. I keep this one filed under the cover-ups that shape what a whole generation is allowed to feel. The bombs were public, the true aftermath was buried. A quietly devastating look at how a narrative gets managed by controlling what you are permitted to look at.

This short film revisits the dawn of the atomic age and the hidden story behind the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Marking the anniversary of the attacks, it looks at the footage and truths long kept from the public. Through history it examines the human toll and the cover-up that followed. It is a sobering watch on nuclear weapons and the memory of their use. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
