After the Mother's Bus Attack, where armed individuals took over a bus near Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility and killed three people, Israeli intelligence identified Abu Jihad, a leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), as the person behind the attack. Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin ordered his assassination, leading to a carefully planned operation by the elite military unit Sayeret Matkal in Tunis, where Abu Jihad lived.
