Declassified: Trigon KGB Chess Game (Espionage) | Crime Documentary | Reel Truth Crime

Dr.Docs' Take

Declassified tells the story of TRIGON, Aleksandr Ogorodnik, the Soviet diplomat the CIA recruited to steal secrets at the height of the Cold War, right down to the suicide pill hidden in a pen. I love a spy case this tense and this real, where a single agent carried enormous risk in his coat pocket. Ogorodnik's end is as grim as any thriller's. Gripping, well-sourced espionage history from the era when the game was truly lethal.

The CIA recruits Soviet diplomat Aleksandr Ogorodnik, codename TRIGON, to capture intelligence on the Soviet Union during the peak of the Cold War conflict. Declassified is an anthology spy series that delves into the riveting true stories of Americas covert operations in the United States and around the world. Each episode features a newly declassified mission told firsthand by the agents who lived it, many of whom will be appearing on camera for the very first time.
