The Danger of a New Black Death: Would Society Collapse?

Editor's Take

Posing a deliberately unsettling hypothetical, this ENDEVR film asks how a pandemic on the scale of the Black Death would move through the modern world. It weighs the factors that could amplify a new outbreak, from global travel and antibiotic resistance to overstretched health systems. Combining historical parallel with expert commentary, it treats the question as a serious thought experiment rather than a prediction.

This ENDEVR documentary asks a chilling question: what would happen if a plague as devastating as the Black Death struck the modern world? It weighs the scientific and social factors that could turn a new outbreak into catastrophe, from global travel and antibiotic resistance to strained health systems. Using history and expert analysis, it considers whether society could hold together under such pressure. It is a thought-provoking watch for anyone unsettled by the lessons of recent pandemics.
