Afghanistan: Rare Footage of an Endless War

Editor's Take

Following the photographer David Pratt across four decades in Afghanistan, this film uses rare footage to trace a country repeatedly remade by war. Its interest is less in campaigns than in the endurance of ordinary Afghans living through continuous upheaval. Pratt's images give it an intimate, unfiltered texture that wide-angle histories often lack. It offers a ground-level counterpoint to the geopolitical account.
