The Plow That Broke the Plains

This classic 1930s film tells the social and economic story of the American Great Plains, from the settlement of the prairies to the ruin of the Dust Bowl. It traces how the plow, wartime demand and relentless farming stripped the grasslands until drought and depression swept the soil away. Both a document and a warning, it captures a landscape and a people transformed by their own ambition. It remains a powerful piece of American historical filmmaking.
