The Makishi Masquerade

This film travels to Zambia for the Makishi masquerade, where masked spirits mark the passage of boys into manhood. In the village of Kashushu, a Mukanda initiation ceremony five hundred years old still shapes community life. It captures the dance, costume and ritual behind a deeply rooted tradition. It is an absorbing watch about culture, ceremony and coming of age in Central Africa. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
