Oil Promises – How Oil Changed a Country

This documentary follows what happened to Ghana after oil was discovered off its coast in 2007 and a nation began to dream of sudden prosperity. It weighs the promise of the black gold against the messy reality of globalisation, foreign companies, and local hopes deferred. Talking to the people caught between expectation and outcome, it asks who actually benefits when the wells come in. Measured and revealing, it is a sober study of resources and their broken promises.
