Superfood berries - Regional v. import | DW Documentary
In Germany, five kilograms of berries are eaten per capita every year. And the trend is rising. The German harvest can't meet this demand and that's why many berries are imported. From places where their cultivation is bad news for both people and for nature itself. Southern Portugal is a booming region for berry production in Europe. The country's cultivation zone has increased fivefold in recent years - to almost 5,000 hectares.
