December 1980, Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum and seven-year-old Colby are driving home from bingo in Texas when a diamond of fire settles over the road, and afterward all three are genuinely, medically ill. On a country road, they encounter a large, diamond-shaped craft shooting fire out of its base. The heat is so intense it melts the vinyl of their vehicle’s dashboard.
