The Canary Effect

Editor's Take

Directed by Robin Davey and Yellow Thunder Woman, this film examines the treatment of Indigenous peoples in North America and the long aftermath of colonization. It surveys historical policy and its continuing effects on Native communities, challenging accounts that leave those realities out. The stance is critical and corrective, foregrounding perspectives often absent from the mainstream record. It works as a pointed counter-narrative meant to unsettle familiar tellings.
