Breathtaking and rare images of a red panda in the depths of the Himalayas

Editor's Take

A patient wildlife film tracking a female red panda through the rhododendron forests of the Himalaya, capturing behaviour that is very rarely filmed. Gentle and rewarding, it is a rare close look at a famously elusive animal.

Hidden in the dense rhododendron forests and bamboo jungles of the Himalayas, the lesser panda leads an extremely hidden life that has rarely been filmed. The film follows a female who has given birth to her cub well protected in a tree hollow. As nestling babies, red pandas develop very slowly. Only after four weeks does the little one begin to crawl around in the cave. Even if it is still a little clumsy. This is the first intimate portrait that exists of the red pandas.
