David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet

Editor's Take

Framed as a personal witness statement, this account measures the loss of the natural world against the span of David Attenborough's own career. He recalls wild places that have contracted and biodiversity that has thinned within a single lifetime, using memory as a yardstick for change. The film pairs its warning with a case for what might still be done, so it is argumentative as well as elegiac. It is more reflective and first-person than the series that made his name.

David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet is the naturalist's personal witness statement, looking back across a lifetime spent filming the natural world. He recounts how wild places have shrunk and biodiversity has collapsed within his own memory, using his career as a measure of how much has changed. The film pairs that warning with a clear-eyed vision of how humanity could still restore the planet's balance. It is both a memoir and an urgent call to act while there is still time.
