Hope, Homesickness, New Beginnings: Years Abroad

A year spent as a volunteer in Berlin. For Angeli from Cameroon, this is the first big trip of his life. How does voluntary service in another country shape a young person? Anyone in Germany can apply for what’s known as the ‘Federal Voluntary Service’. It’s a program enabling Germans to volunteer anywhere in the world. Foreigners can also come to Germany. In 2019, the young Cameroonian Robincrusoe Angeli comes to Berlin as part of the same program.
