Brainwashed: The Secret CIA Experiments in Canada - The Fifth Estate

Dr.Docs' Take

The Fifth Estate on the CIA-funded experiments that dosed Canadian psychiatric patients with LSD and drug-induced comas at Montreal's Allan Memorial, wrecking real lives in the name of research. I keep saying it: the wildest theories have a habit of graduating into the archive. This is short, rigorous journalism about an atrocity that genuinely happened and was genuinely hidden. Doctors did this, on purpose, with funding, and then it got filed away.

Brainwashed: The Secret CIA Experiments in Canada: Patients at a psychiatric hospital in Montreal were subjected to intensive shock treatments, LSD and drug-induced comas in the 1950s and 1960s. The brutal experiments were funded by the Canadian government and the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. The Fifth Estate began investigating the story in 1980 and followed the victims who successfully sued the CIA. Now, as result of our reporting, more and more victims and their families are coming forward.
