Soviet Sub Captain Was Horrified When He Discovered a US Sub Had Trailed Him for Days

Dr.Docs' Take

A slice of the secret undersea Cold War, when a Soviet submarine captain realized an American boat had been silently shadowing him for days. I love this hidden theater, the espionage that happened miles down with nobody watching. Books like Blind Man's Bluff cracked it open, and the nerve involved is staggering. Watch it for a genuinely gripping account of the war beneath the waves that both sides fought and neither side admitted.

1. "Blind Man's Bluff" by Sherry Sontag - THE definitive book on Cold War submarine espionage. Contains detailed accounts of submarine collisions just like USS Baton Rouge. This is the book I used to research this episode. 2. "Red November" by W. Craig Reed - Focuses specifically on U.S.-Soviet submarine confrontations in waters where collisions like Baton Rouge happened regularly. Includes incidents never before declassified.
