The Amazon in Danger - Indigenous Peoples and Their Struggle for the Rainforest

Editor's Take

Centered on the Indigenous communities that have stewarded the Amazon for millennia, this DW film records their resistance to illegal logging, mining, and land seizure. It joins activists and tribal leaders defending territory increasingly encroached upon, letting their testimony carry the argument. The result balances the forest's beauty against a concrete account of who is fighting for it and against what.

The Amazon in Danger follows the Indigenous communities who have safeguarded the world's largest rainforest for millennia and now face their gravest threat. The DW documentary joins activists and tribal leaders resisting illegal logging, mining, and land grabs that push ever deeper into their territory. It captures both the beauty of the Amazon and the courage of those defending it, often at great personal risk. Timely and urgent, it links the survival of these peoples to the future of the planet.
