Are Whales Smarter Than We Think?

Editor's Take

Accompanying the marine biologist and filmmaker Rick Rosenthal into the water, this film asks whether whales think in ways we have long underestimated. Narrated by David Attenborough, it examines their communication, behavior, and social bonds for signs of complex minds. The underwater footage is central, offering close observation rather than laboratory testing. It raises its question thoughtfully, and stays candid about how much remains uncertain.
