Operation Gladio: False Flag Terrorism (BBC Timewatch)

Dr.Docs' Take

This is Operation Gladio, the once-unthinkable story, now documented, of NATO-backed secret armies stashed across Cold War Europe, some of them tangled up in terrorism aimed at their own populations. The BBC put this on television in 1992, which still stuns me. It is the textbook case of false-flag conspiracy graduating into the historical record. When a state sponsors terror to frighten its own people leftward or rightward, the word conspiracy stops being an insult.

This BBC Timewatch investigation exposes Operation Gladio, the secret NATO stay-behind network that operated across Europe during the Cold War. It explores allegations that these clandestine cells were linked to false-flag terrorism intended to discredit the political left and provoke armed resistance. Drawing on interviews and archives, the film uncovers a hidden chapter of postwar history. For students of the Cold War and conspiracy, it is a chilling and detailed account.
