The Cult That Poisoned an Entire Town: A Wild Wild Country Investigation

Dr.Docs' Take

The Rajneeshees, the Oregon commune that answered a local election dispute in 1984 by poisoning the salad bars of an entire town and making 751 people sick. I keep this one filed under cults as a permanent reminder that the true stories out-weird every invented one. It is the largest bioterror attack in US history, and it started over zoning. A sobering study of how a utopia curdles into a crime scene, told completely straight.

This documentary revisits the Rajneeshees, the religious movement made famous by the series Wild Wild Country, and their attempt to take over an Oregon town. It recounts how the group settled near Antelope and pursued control by any means, including a notorious plot to poison local residents. The film unpacks a bizarre and disturbing chapter of American history. A gripping watch for anyone interested in cults, true crime, and the Rajneesh saga. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
