Fifty years on, Jimmy Hoffa is less a missing person than a national parlor game about which slab of concrete to dig up next. This lays out the newer theories about the union boss who crossed the wrong people and simply stopped existing one afternoon in 1975. I enjoy that every solved Hoffa story quietly dissolves on a second look, because that is what a real mob secret is supposed to do. The whole point was never to be found.
