The Trust Fall: Julian Assange

Dr.Docs' Take

The Trust Fall makes its case for Julian Assange as a man punished less for lying than for publishing the truth the powerful wanted buried. Whatever you make of him, my rule holds: watch how hard they chase the messenger and you learn what the message was worth. This one leans firmly in his corner, so bring your own balance. But the questions it raises about press freedom are not going away.

This award-winning documentary examines the case of Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder pursued across borders for publishing classified material. It asks why a single individual has been made to carry the burden for exposing the actions of the powerful, and what his prosecution means for press freedom. Through interviews and reporting, it builds a passionate argument about transparency and the state. For anyone interested in Assange and the politics of leaks, it is a provocative watch.
