Becoming a Man Among the Borana
This documentary follows eleven-year-old Wario, a boy of the Borana, a semi-nomadic people of southern Ethiopia known for their salt trading. As he takes on new responsibilities, he must prove to his family and community that he is a true Borana. The film captures a coming-of-age shaped by tradition, land and the expectations of a proud culture. It is a tender portrait of growing up on the African plains.
