The Human Terrain Project - Pentagon's Attempt to Understand the Enemy

This documentary examines the US military's Human Terrain program, a controversial effort to enlist social scientists to understand the cultures of war zones. It tells parallel stories of the ambition to weaponise cultural knowledge and the people caught up in the project. The film weighs the ethics and consequences of turning anthropology into a tool of war. Provocative and revealing, it probes an uneasy meeting of academia and the battlefield.
