Kings of the Sky: A Rivalry Above the Alps

Editor's Take

Following two eagle siblings from a high Alpine nest, this natural-history film charts the uncertain progress from first flight to competent hunting. The rivalry between the young birds gives the material a narrative shape, while the mountain setting supplies its scale. Photography taken among the peaks is the obvious draw, though the film's real subject is the slow, failure-prone business of learning to survive.

This wildlife documentary follows two young eagles hatched high on a cliff in the Alps, tracing their first vulnerable steps toward mastery of the sky. Amid the rugged peaks, it captures a tale of sibling rivalry, survival, and the making of the mountains' ultimate aerial hunters. The soaring footage puts viewers among the highest reaches of Europe. Dramatic and beautiful, it is a stirring portrait of alpine wildlife. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
