Hunters of the Alps: Return of the Wolf Packs

Editor's Take

The return of wolves to the Italian Alps after a long absence is the story this film follows, tracking packs as they recolonise valleys and high country. It records their movements and behaviour while acknowledging the friction their comeback creates with the people nearby. Observational in method, it treats the resurgence as neither triumph nor threat but as a change to be understood.

Hunters of the Alps follows the return of wolves to the mountains of Italy after long absence. The film tracks the packs as they cross valleys, woods, and plains to recolonise the Alpine region, revealing their behaviour and the challenges they face. It also touches on the tensions their comeback creates with people living nearby. It is a compelling account of a great predator reclaiming lost ground. Free to watch in HD on Dr Documentary.
