The Roots of Modern Psychological Torture
This film, Eminent Monsters, traces how modern psychological torture grew out of postwar experiments, beginning with the psychiatrist Ewen Cameron in 1950s Montreal. It follows the line from his work on the human mind to interrogation techniques later used by Western governments. Through survivors and documents it exposes an uncomfortable history hidden behind science. It is a disturbing but important account of how torture was designed and defended.
