Life of the forest. The great herbivores
Rate itMember ratings
In forests, meadows, and fields, vegetation continues, with flowering grasses and green herbs. This abundance of green biomass supports the development of organisms that benefit from this bounty. Herbivores are very useful in nature - activating many plants to get out of space, taking advantage of the succession of trees and shrubs. They are a crucial part of the trophic pyramid, providing food for predators and scavengers. Their presence in the landscape carries with it an aesthetic value.
