For seven months Spring Films has had exclusive access to HMP Durham, the first television crew to be invited into a British prison for a number of years. Spring Series producer Paddy Wivell and the crew filmed every day, witnessing in intimate detail the daily life of a prison and what makes it tick from the prisoner and staff’s point of view. The series gives a ‘never seen before’ uncompromising look at British prison life and is by turns grim, humorous, shocking, warmly affecting and inspirational.
