December 1965, dozens of witnesses in rural Pennsylvania watch something fiery come down in the woods near Kecksburg, and the volunteer firefighter who went looking never quite shook it. I collect the multiple-witness cases because a crowd is a great deal harder to gaslight than one lonely person. America's most credible encounters, and credible is the word doing the heavy lifting here, in the best way. Kecksburg still has no tidy ending, and I love it for that.
