Love, money and deception - Marie's fight against an online fraudster | DW Documentary
Marie’s boyfriend wasn’t who he said he was. She was the victim of a romance scam, where an online fraudster feigns romantic intentions towards a victim, then extracts money from them. But Marie decided to fight back. She turned the tables on her scammer, tracking him down and eventually taking him to court - in Nigeria. It seemed the Nigerian confidence trickster had also cheated other women out of money. This film follows Marie to the Nigerian capital, Abuja, on her quest for justice.
