Discovering Dinosaurs in Frozen Antarctica

Editor's Take

A counterintuitive film about Antarctica's warm, forested past, when dinosaurs roamed a continent now buried under ice. It uses fossil evidence to reconstruct a lost Jurassic world, and the contrast with today's frozen landscape is the hook.

This documentary uncovers Antarctica's surprising prehistoric past, when the frozen continent was a lush, forested land teeming with life around 190 million years ago. Scientists dig up fossils from the early Jurassic, including the crested predator Cryolophosaurus, to reconstruct a vanished world. Along the way it explains how a warm, green Antarctica became the ice-bound place we know. Fascinating and vivid, it rewrites what we imagine about the far south.
