Bridges Before Steel: Pre-Industrial Marvels | Mega Bridges | FD Engineering Whether arch, beam or suspension bridge: For thousands of years, people have been building connections for pedestrians, cars or trains over natural obstacles such as water or gorges. In the past it was simple stone buildings, today gigantic steel structures like the Örsesund Bridge are created to connect Denmark with Sweden.
